Stories from North Dakota

Saturday, May 27, 2006

What happens when your friend calls you to tell you that your check for the apartment rent never showed up? What happens when your bank shows and says the check was deposited into an account with no signature? What happens when you call your bank to tell them the story? They freeze your account, the account on the back of the check, and file a lawsuit against the account number on the back.

What happens when your friend calls you back an hour later, saying that his dad was a goof and actually did deposit the check? You breathe a sigh of relief!

Electronic Mail/Snail Mail fraud, not so much fun to deal with. Though I felt like a movie star when I had to sign papers in the bank the other day. Got the royal treatment. US Bank really takes mail fraud seriously. Good for them.

------------------------------------------------------

What happens when you tell your best friend you find him extremely attractive and would love to have a partner like him one day? What happens when you tell him this sober? He calls everyday, sometimes thrice a day to "JUST TALK."

What is the conversation like when your attractive best friend calls and is bord? The conversation usually entails conversation about being so hot in the current location. Having to be shirtless to cope. What happens when you have yet to get any since leaving Australia? You tend to fantize about your very attractive friend.

What happens when you want to impress your very attractive friend? You end up spending a good 2 hours a day in the gym, loosing 15 pounds in 3 weeks, and starting to gain some muscle definition, just so you can impress someone that clearly is not batting for your team.

Le Sigh....

Just doing a bit of housekeeping so that you are kept up-to-date with all the happenings that are going on in my life. God knows that gossip drives half the people to read the mass amounts of blogs out there.

Got my hair cut... well buzzed really. It was just getting too long and it has been getting quite warm here lately, so it was time for the hair to go. I use to be able to play with my hair, now, I cant and it kind of freaks me out, that it is all gone. But it grows bck. At least I am told it does.

Been talking to Mike about our little trip out to Buffalo, NY. Probably wont happen this year, I am really trying to save up some money so that I can purchase a few things. Been doing an extra entry on the pay blog each day. Really pushing to have a big paycheck this month from them. I really want this. Yeah Yeah Yeah, I know. Why would I want something from this company when I could get a Mac. Well, Mac's don't really like our wireless network on campus and well, so there.

Got credit on my United Airline's Mileage Plus account for my flights on NWA. WooHoo. Made Premier! No more standing in the queue with the rest of the economy fliers. First class queue here I come. Five more legroom inches in economy plus! WooHoo! Yeah, it's something special for me.

Gym is going well. Down another few pounds (a kilo or kilo and a half for you non American friends). Excited about that.

And that is about it. I know pretty boring.

** Still looking for more Aviation/Airline related interviewees. Deadline is coming up.**

What guy do you know calls just to call and talk, especially for over an hour...

1 hour, 13 mins, 42 seconds to be exact... but who is keeping track really?

Me?!

I think Ryan is bored and just wants me to come back now... tempting but no...

It's always nice to know that at least one company loves you so much they send out personal letters, well at least via email.

Dear Mr. SFND:

"First, let me apologize for the problems you experienced with the delay of your flight in Chicago. We recognize how important it is to our customers that we maintain schedule integrity and we certainly don't want you or any United customer to be inconvenienced by flight delays or cancellations. Our goal is to achieve the highest level of on-time performance whenever possible with safety as our primary concern. It's unfortunate that in our business there are so many factors that can impact our schedule including crew shortages and necessary equipment repairs as well as situations beyond our control such as weather and air traffic control. Your frustration nonetheless is understood."
Awe, you guys love me! Thanks so much. Getting this makes me feel so loved. You really do value my money don't you? Oh the love continues too...

However, please accept the attached electronic discount travel certificate as a gesture of our goodwill, which can be redeemed on United.com. Further, I know that when United fails to deliver the service you anticipate you doubt our desire to be an airline you can count on. You expect a dependable and easy travel experience. And be assured that we will meet this goal as we refine our quality standards and procedures.
My god the love and ass kiss just continues doesn't it? Thanks to United, my flight to visit my friends in Buffalo, NY later next month is paid for, excluding taxes of course.

Related news, I am working on getting some high profiled interviews with people in the airline industry for the other paying blog, if anyone knows anyone that would be willing or knows any one with connections, i would love for them to get in contact with me. Leave me a message here and I will respond to you via email, phone, or a personal visit to your city if you are cute.

I love the gym. I love the gym. I love the gym.

It's so hard to tell the difference between sweat and drool! I have found out when the gays go to the gym. I love how I get "act" like I am watching tv yet I am starring quite intently at the guys that are working out their biceps, triceps, lats, glutes, etc.

Busy day today, did lots of work. Cardinal Baseball game tomorrow at 12.10pm. YAY

Talked to Ryan today. He is quite bored all alone up there in NodakLand. He wants me to come back now. No can do dude. I gots to make some money for this year.

Talked to Kellie today, she is bored too.

Though I am starting to settle in. Work is picking up. I'm getting into a routine now. Starting to get back in shape. Things are working out now. August isnt that far off. Besides I have plenty of time in the next 3 semesters with the boys.

So I got my marks for last semester's classes. I apparently did better than I first thought. I guess having sex with my professors really paid off. I would have totally done my TA's in air traffic control class but other than that... I really worked for those high marks.

I apparently passed physics yet, I did not receive any grade for the class, but I did earn credit. So I am assuming I passed the class.

I'm quite bored here. My dad suggested I just stay here til mid-July and then head back. I am seriously comtemplating it. I mean, I know no one here. My friends are up there. We will see how things turn out.

I'm so bored.

I'm so bored.

The highlights of my day included washing the dishes, watching Chicken Little twice... once with the parents, once by myself, and delaying the diet by just one more day.

This dialup shit is killing me too. How much longer til mid August?

FINALLY, I'M HOME!

Man that move was stressfull! The day started at 7am when people just came into my room to wish me well on the final that I had at 10.15am and to say they were leaving and gave hugs and all that jazz.

Friday:

Took the final. Breeze.

Packed up my entire room. Not such a breeze.

Moved out Ryan, Mike and myself. Not a breeze.

Went pysho on the parking lady. Fun! That relieved some stress.

Bitched out head of University of North Dakota Parking. Fun! Another stress relief.

Got all parking tickets for my dorm removed from the books and got parking attendant in some serious trouble. F-U-N!!!!!

Flight was delayed out of Fargo, would have missed my connection in Chicago. United Booked me on "scab" air. NOT FUN!

If there is more than one thing I hate more in this world, it's flying N-W-A. I loathe that airline. No one smiled at me. I wasn't greeted on the plane when I boarded. United even booked me in one of NWA's special seats that require you to pay that extra 25 bucks, that seat that's right behind first class that seems like it is missing a row. Yeah, I sat in there on both legs and never once got treated nice. No smile, no choice of drinks, not even bloody snacks. Apparently NWA stopped servicing anyone in economy. I guess that trip solidly reinforces my love for UAL.

Spent an extra 3 hours in Minneapolis due to layover times.

Missing friends in Nodak-land already.

--------------------------------------------------------
Saturday:

Back to family work at 7.30am

Signed up for gym membership for summer months. Gym boys are so hot, even if they do have braces!

Got mum a gift card to Yankee Candle, cause god knows if i would have bought the candle it would have been the wrong smell.

Ate dinner alone tonight... parents still in Texas on holiday. No idea when they return.

Call Count from Mike: 5 since Friday PM
Call Count from Ryan: 4 since Friday PM

Thursday, May 11, 2006

Well, I move out of the dorms for the last time tomorrow (Friday afternoon). My last final should get done by noon and then I am waiting around til Mike gets done with his so he can drive me to Fargo to the airport. I am leaving most of my stuff behind here in a storage unit for the time being and just flying home. It actually worked out to be extremely cheap to fly home compared to driving home. I got a roundtrip ticket from Fargo to St. Louis for only $300. There is just no way that I could drive there and back for three hundred. The hotels for there and back would be at least $180. And gas up here in the north is oddly more expensive than one would think. We are still around that $3 dollar a gallon. I think it is acutally $2.95 pg. So definitely not worth the effort and the two day drive home when I can be home in just under 4 hours flying and layover time.

I'm definitely going to miss the people up here more than I though at first. I am going home to an empty house. The parents are on holiday in Texas. I know, Texas... but they are down there to see my brother graudating from Military training or something like that. I never thought my brother would graduate before me, since he is 3 years younger but I guess someone had to graduate sometime right? So the parents wont be home for a week or so, and I get to dog sit and run the business. Just lovely... I get home on Friday night at 11pm and I have to start work at 7am on Saturday. JOY!

Been spending a lot more time with Mike lately. A lot more "guy" time. He seems to be opening up a lot more to me. And yes I know for sure he is very much straight. I've walked in on him once. He definitely said he likes hanging out with me more than Ryan.

SCORE!

I think it's because in the past Ryan has burned him with girls and there was definitely some competition between the two of them. It was very complicated. I am just now figuring it all out. I think Mike likes hanging out with me not only for my awesome personality and great looks, but the fact that I am a non-threat, I am no direct competition towards the opposite sex makes things a lot more relaxed between the two of us. In fact I actually bring in the ladies. Something that Ryan can't claim fame too.

Anyways, just one more final on Friday and then I am off on a jet plane... two of them actually. Then it's back to the real world.

This weekend was a drunken blur. But from what I gather, have been told, and what was written on my body, I had a pretty f-ing good time. I was pretty much drunk for a good 24-36 hours straight. Multiple games of beer pong, many many drinks in the park, and my favourite, pepsi and crown. Yummy!

I can't tell you how many times I was felt up, got kissed, got ass grabbed, etc. Man whore SFND might make an emergence come next semester. So many hotties around here.

When I was at the party in the park buying drinks, I only ended up paying for half my drinks as the guy serving me was HOT and either forgot to ring up the other half of my order, 4 times, or he thought I was cute and just gave them to me. I'm banking on the second one.

Spent the whole weekend not talking to Ryan, things are slowly getting back to normal. He was an asshole, I yelled at him on Thursday and we just didnt talk the entire weekend. IT was kind of nice just relaxing from a somewhat complex relationship. So instead I spent the entire weekend with two other hotties, Mike and Tylor. Mike and I were team Happy in our beer pong tourament.

Now I am stuck studying. Boo.

And that was the most random stream of thought entry, I have done... weird

It's Spring Fest Weekend here on campus. That means lots of drinking. I've already done my fair share and doing some more today. It is nearly 9am and I am heading out to play in a beer pong tournament. I've already recieved drunken calls from friends who have gotten wasted already at the bars. Basically spring fest is where all the college students come together in university park and just drink, drink, drink.

The other night we were at the frat houses and I was not drinking for I was DD. Though it didnt stop others from drinking. I can't remember how many times my ass got grabbed, slapped, poked, rubbed, etc... I do however remember how many times that several boys tried to make out with me. Quite interesting.... I must say. Though I went home alone ;)

So I am off to drink.

Things here in NoDak land are calming down. I am sure it is the calm before the storm, as this weekend is the tradational 'lets get completely messed up before our finals fest.' Lots of studying will be had in my world with a fair bit of drinking as well. Have to clean out my stash before I move out. Damn you dry campus!

Lets do a bit of house keeping:

Mike: Things with him are going well. He knows I find him attractive but we have talked about it and it's a two way street. He has become one of my really great friends here on campus. Keeps me smiling. Tries to hook me up with any guy that exhibits any sort of fashion sense. And makes sure that I am there offering advice in regards to his female issues. The other day I was having a bad day, and the guy kept me smiling and kept me from thinking about what went bad that day and kept me on what went right that day. I got a SMS from him later that night, "You are a GREAT friend. Thanks"

All together now, AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWE!

Ryan: Where do I start. Things are good, too good. I think he has realized that I am attracted to him, yet he knows that I wouldnt make any sort of move on him; that there is not threat from me. But things are definitely more flirty. A lot more flirty. The playful pokes and jabs have picked up signficantly. The scarcastic taunts and teases have increased. And just the other day we were laying on my bed watching tv (I pushed both beds together to make a king) and I grabbed the remote out of his hands and the next thing I know we were wrestling for a good solid 20 mins. This event occurred 5 times in the last 3 days.

Now don't get me wrong, I absolutely love it. I am sure that Scottie is reading this now and getting really jealous. But no one need not worry. Things are strictly friendship based. He likes girls... a lot. He seems to reinforce that concept a lot to me.

Yeah Ryan, I get it, you like girls... a lot.

There is this other guy on the floor though, Tylor. He keeps telling me he loves me as a friend. Yeah, the hugging, poking and other various forms of showing affection state otherwise. We will see how things go when he is wasted this weekend.

Today has just been fantastic!

Note passed to me in Communication class by professor:

"SFND, you did not write the paper correctly. Do it over again by Friday to get a C on it."

Strike 1....

Email response from Computer Systems professor:

"SFND, I can not find your last three assignments, turn them in again for half credit."

Strike 2....

Face to face conversation with Math Department:

"You received a 12 out of 32 on your placement test, you can registar for [stupid people's] math."

~I added stupid people's math because it is less than a freshman course~

Strike 3...

Lets go for Strike 4 today when I go and take my Computer System's final at 6pm.
