Stories from North Dakota

Well I guess there is something to be proud of. My home city was named the most dangerous in all of the nation the other day.

"A surge in violence made St. Louis the most dangerous city in the country, leading a trend of violent crimes rising much faster in the Midwest than in the rest of nation." ~CNN.com

To be honest this news really doesn't surprise me. The violent crimes are mostly confined to the inner city where unemployeement is higher, education levels are lower, and the overall aora is very low. With only 330,000 residents actually in the inner city and nearly 1.5 million in the surrounding suburbs it makes the city look even worse than normal.

At least we beat Detroit twice in the same week. The second most dangerous city was Detroit, followed by Flint, Michigan, and Compton, California.

Now all the dangerous jokes are going to be about 'Da Lou'

Last night I went out with some friends for their birthday celebration. I really hate going out especially since I was not drinking. But they insisited that I stay and celebrate with them. I really just could have come back and picked them up.

I was standing near the dance floor watching them and this really hot guy but that's something different. I was standing there and all of a sudden this lady who is probably in her mid-20s comes up and starts talking to me.

Whoa, didn't know I was putting off the straight vibe tonight.

We start chatting, well more like she starts talking to me and I just nod politely and smile.

She keeps getting closer and closer, then all of a sudden she puts her hands around my waist and starts feeling my ass.

Whoa!!!!! WHOA!!! WHOA!!!!!!!!!!! That's the most action I have seen in years.

I guess I put off an even stronger vibe because all of a sudden she is now feeling my ass up and licking my neck.

Weird! I finally make eye contact with the girls dancing on the floor and I can see them just laughing their asses off. I give them a very nasty, SAVE ME, look and Jen finally swoops in.

The best part, the woman has a rock the size New Jersey on her hand.

I am really starting to HATE bars especially when I don't drink anymore.

Things in life really snap into a clear, sharp, brilliant picture when your caller ID on your mobile says, Grand Forks Police Dept.

I got this phone call on Thursday mid-morning. I was in class, so I was unable to answer the call right away. So thousands of things run through your head. Fire at home? Car accident? A million different things could have happend.

Come to find out there was not a death but rather lots of stupidity, a few injuries to the ego, and a lot of disappointment to go around.

My roommate decided to drive home drunk from the bars on Wednesday night. I know real smart on his part. He claims a large cat ran out in front of him and so instead of hitting the animal he jerked the wheel and hit the curb. The officer that was nearby saw him hit the curb and had to do his job.

He spent the night in the jailhouse.

I've never heard him cry before until the moment I got the phone call to pick him up. I think he was more disappointed in himself than ever. As he should be. But no one got hurt, no damage to anyone else's property, and he is uninjured except for his ego and pride.

His car on the other hand was not so lucky. After running around town searching at the impound lots we found it in a parking lot near campus. The right side is scraped up, the mirror is not attached anymore, both tires are blown out, the rims are bent, the windshield is smashed up and cracking and it's leaking oil and other fluids. I am really surprised the side airbags did not deploy.

What an expensive lesson he is learning.
$500 bail
$300 towing fee
$75 processing fees
and a courtdate next month...

Another reason I quit drinking... its expensive if you have a lapse in judgement.

The only people to know are him, me, the University police department, the Grand Forks jail, and the money processing lady... so let's just keep this between us.

I really wonder if my parents have hired a political advisor to position themselves in a fashion that would alienate their own sons. My brother was been the "victim" in their last round of battles against their offspring.

I seriously am thinking that they have become so jaded of the fact that their children do not want to spend anymore time with them that they have resorted to poking and prodding to instigate situations.

My most recent squabble with the parents, more specifically my mum, is a direct result of my lack of communication and family time with them. My defense is that it's kind of hard to jet down for a weekend getaway from F-ing North Dakota. When my brother was living in Los Angeles my mother nearly expected him to come home once a month to visit. But of course when we do decide to come home and visit it's completely on our own dime. It's not like they don't have the money.

My parents have this theory that if I pay for things on my own I will respect what I have and feel more proud of myself and my accomplishments. I am beginning to think that the complete opposite is occurring. It becomes painfully evident that our relationship is becoming even more strained after each semester passes and I realize just how much I have in outstanding schooling debt. They do nothing for me except claim me as a tax write off. I pay for everything from school fees to health insurance and right down to new toothbrushes.

I just wished my parents would help me out, just a little. I realize that if you feel like helping me out will turn me into some spoiled brat, try rethinking your desired outcome. Just remember who has the final say when it comes to visiting for the holidays and such.

Weekend in Minneapolis was a bust. Nothing got resolved. Thank God for my rock here in north dakota..., Mike.

I'm done with him. He lies, he manipulates, it's not worth it.

I asked him how his weekend was. He responded, spent most of it with Eric. It's going, but not going.

I asked him last week if he wanted to go to the hockey game with me. He responded I don't like hockey. I'm not going to go.

I asked him if he enjoyed having Saturday off work and asked what did he do with the free time. He responded, went to the hockey game on Saturday with Eric.

Just tell me to my face you don't like me so I won't have to be lied to.

Spending the weekend in Minneapolis with AAAE (American Association of Airport Executives). He will be on the trip also; sharing room together. I thought getting away from GFK would help relieve some stress but it looks like the weekend in MSP might be a bust.

Mike and Ryan both have girlfriends now. I like Mike's gf a lot. She is awesome. Ryan's I have not met so much. Seen her around but not officially met her.

The first snow occurred today at 12.15am, just a dusting.

Heading home for Christmas. Bought the ticket last night. Forwarded the confirmation onto the parents with the tag line "Merry Christmas" Hope this makes you happy. Thanks for helping out.

I'm sure my mother will just love that.

(Just as background info. The parents pay for one thing of mine, the cell phone. My brother on the other hand, has a NICE paying job, gets free rent, free food, parents pay for the gas in his truck, and "spending" money)

Fighting Sioux Hockey has returned! Tonight was our first official game, last week we had an exhibition game between the University of North Dakota and Manitoba.

I got season tickets this year because it works out that I would actually pay much less to get the tickets and only go to half the games than just buying the tickets seperately. So on Friday nights I get to sit in the upper bowl in the student section. But on Saturday nights I get to sit in the lower bowl and cheer on the Fighting Sioux.

This year is special because the palace of the north turns 5 years old. This is what they call the palace of the north, the Ralph Engelstad Arena is a 100 million dollar areana that was built with donated money. The best in the nation for college students.

So tonights game ended up in our first win for the season of many wins. A 6 to 1 Win over Quinnipiac. We play them tomorrow (Saturday) @ 7.07pm.

GO Fighting SIOUX

As for the rest of the things going on in my world. I got an extra notch on my belt today! That has to make anyone happy. Feeling so full of energy, so full of life right now it's hard to get me down. Literally too. I seriously think it's pumped full of the little blue pill. I haven't had an unprovoked "visitor" in ages but the other day in class I was typing something on the computer and I looked down and saw a friend. Oh hello. I'll just put this jacket of mine on my lap for now and hope there isn't a fire alarm because I don't think I could get up and walk out.

Kash has another "date" with his new boy. So much for not wanting a relationship, fucking asshole. Kind of bitter about that. But oh well, I'll move on, or move back to liking Mike more than I should. Mike got wasted at the hockey game. He was sitting in the lower bowl and we were flirt texting back and forth.

Sample:

Me: Where you at?
Mike: Just look for the sexy guy in the Sioux Jersey
Me: I can't see Ackerman from here. Wink Wink (Ackerman is HOT)
Mike: Try looking harder.
Me: I'll just look for the sexy stud with "wavey" hair.

Le Sigh... Boys.... So complicated when drinking...

Wednesday, October 04, 2006

It's been a long time since I have written here, so I'd just like to get a few things off the chest to tidy up a bit.

Today is day three of the whole Hydroxycut diet thing. Surprising I'm loosing a lot of weight. It could just be a mind thing and the pills are probably just placebos but whatever gets the job done right. I'm on this whole lets look very attractive, very desirable by Christmas time so when I surprise the parents by coming home this year I will look good. Not only do I want to look good for the rest of the family, but also that little New Years trip to Seattle I am taking to visit Mike and explore the Northwest's finest city according to him.

I've been drinking gallons and I am not exaggerating on that, gallons of water each day. Since starting the program, combined with my regular work-out schedule, I'm already down 4 pounds. But the weight is not the impressive loss, its the BMI that is great. Down 0.5 percent already. So basically I've probably lost a lot more weight but gained some back in muscle mass. Woo Hoo!

You know what I really hate, when you tell someone something very personal and they go an muck up the situation by injecting into the conversation their life without fully understanding that it may complicate or provoke certain unwanted feelings. When you tell someone you think they are attractive and they tell you they are not looking for a relationship and brush you off. And then the next day they tell you in great detail about their date they had last night.

Yeah not so nice.

And then after you drag yourself through a very awkward conversation between the two of you, you then have to hear about their date that is coming up and how excited they are to go on it.

Well aren't you just special! You have a date with the same person and even after I told you something very special and personal. How nice of you to disregard my feelings in this entire situation. Thanks but you're a poof and I hope you get herpies.

Lately Ryan has had a stick up his ass, and not literally either. The boy is so uptight, so jealous of anything that Mike and I do that it has become so obnixiously annoying that it's painful to even ask him to come along when we even just hang out. For instance, last night I was laying on the couch and a mutual friend of ours (female) was giving me a shoulder and head massage. It wasn't for just a few minutes either, it was a good hour, at least I think, I fell asleep on the couch for a few minutes, it was that good. Well later that night, I got the evil eyes and death looks from him because I was talking and hanging out with her too much.

I just don't know how to reinforce the concept to him that I am not interested in her, I like the boys. Frankly he should be more afraid I'm going to steal his best (male) friend over any of his (female) friends.

Extreme Jealousy is stupid.
